From Constellations to Convergence: Mapping a Collective Agenda for Health and Healing in Minnesota
Healthcare Reparations Cooperative is calling for care-minded individuals and groups from across the state to join us for a two-day convening this October.
Why: In the United States, healthcare is a system that extracts wealth, reinforces violence, excludes people, and creates debt. This long-standing onslaught, coupled with recent policy shifts, has escalated the need to come together and respond. The US healthcare system is not broken–it is working exactly as it was designed.
Who: This event calls people committed to reimagining and building alternatives to the current healthcare system. This includes:
• Healthcare workers and practitioners seeking liberatory approaches
• Organizers, abolitionists, and health communists
• Healers, street medics, birthworkers, and healing justice practitioners
• Policy visionaries and anyone reimagining healthcare from the ground up.
When:
Friday, October 24th 10am-5pm
Saturday, October 25th 9am-3pm with a Social Hour from 3pm-4pm
We will explore whether we share a common agenda to radically transform the landscape of health and healing in Minnesota. We will strategize around topics like:
• Mapping parallel systems already in practice.
• Literally, how will we maintain care?
• Recommendations for resourcing the rural landscape.
• Dissenting in large systems.
We are planning this gathering with attention to the need for safety, care, nourishment, rest, as well as the urgency of this time.
